Van Mahotsava

By the aid of millions of bricks, a city is built. By the aid of millions of thoughts, a character is built. Human beings have been using a lot of bricks to build skyscrapers & in this process they damage the environment. One of the most important thoughts in the human mind now is how to save the environment.

Taking one step forward towards this thought, the Starex family, celebrated the ‘Van Mahotsava’ on 14th July 2008. The Vice Chancellor Designate of the Starex University, Dr. Anil Wilson, and Registrar Mr. Sandeep Gandhi, graced the occasion with their presence.

The programme was started by the children of Grade III with a poem in Hindi ‘Agar ped bhi chalte hote’. Gauri of Grade III was dressed up as a tree & made the poem come alive by roaming here and there amongst the choir group. Prince of Grade VIII recited a thought provoking poem.

It was followed by a beautiful action song on spring – ‘Lo basant aaya phool khile-phool khile’ by the girls of Primary choir group.

Anmol Khatri of Grade XII expressed his thoughts on the role of people in the destruction of Mother Nature and what steps should be taken for the conservation of our earth. The thoughts were really effective and got everyone thinking. While talking about how we are disturbing the environment, he showed a clear picture of how we are cutting the branch on which we ourselves are sitting.

The Principal of Starex International School shared her thoughts on the need and importance of trees in our lives and encouraged everyone for tree plantation. Dr. Anil Wilson and Mr. Gandhi started the tree plantation in the school premises. This was followed by the Principal Mrs. Rita Wilson, Primary School Head Mrs. Vineeta Mittal and Middle and Senior School Head Mrs. Mimi Bajpai.

The students of all the classes planted new plants along with their class teachers. They were really thrilled with the experience of planting a plant themselves in the soil and watering it. Joy of the ownership of the plants was visible on their faces.

This tree plantation ceremony was an attempt by the Starex family to aid the environment and to encourage all of us to think about how we can make our planet green.
